Get to Know Coohom and its Game-Changing 3D Interior Design Innovation

With consumers seeking to create bespoke spaces, the interior design and furnishing industry is experiencing gradual yet noteworthy growth, spurred by an escalating emphasis on well-being. Among the prominent names is Coohom, an interior design trailblazer.

Victor Huang, one of Coohom's founders and chairman, talks about the company's innovative offerings in this exclusive interview.

“Our new technology can change the world," states Huang. The SaaS company is a joint venture of three University of Illinois Urbana Champaign alumni, Victor Huang, Hang Chen, and Hao Zhu. Amassing experience from some of the biggest names in the tech industry, including Google and Microsoft, the three visionaries forged a path the traditional interior design market has never seen before, giving birth to Hangzhou QunHe Information Technology Co. Ltd. in 2011. Kujiale was then introduced to the world, crafting real-time, high-resolution 3D renders.

Coohom, launched in 2018, is an international arm of Kujiale, meaning “cool home” in Mandarin. It is a powerful cloud-augmented reality visualisation platform that aids enterprises, SMEs, interior designers, furniture makers, and customers in turning concepts into stunning 3D visuals in real-time. This innovation is professional software with a user-friendly interface to provide convenience and faster visualisation. Catering to over 200 countries, millions of designers, and completing more than 400,000 projects daily, Coohom's efficiency is definitely on a colossal scale, granting the end user unlimited creativity.

The Hangzhou-based company has over 2,000 employees worldwide and aims to be one of the biggest cloud platforms in the world.

True to its claim, the ubiquitous platform indeed provides a "what you see is what you get" experience with its photorealistic rendering with up to 16K resolution. Its features include 2D and 3D visualisation, furniture customisation, floor plans, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) experiences. Ultimately, there are four ways to create a stunning design using the software: drawing from scratch, searching floor plans, uploading an image, or importing a floor plan from AutoCAD. “Nowadays, people can communicate by images—by the photorealistic results, which is our vision. We’ve always wanted to come up with "realised imagination’.”

Being cloud-based software, Coohom doesn’t require installation or high-end equipment to be utilised. The intuitive platform can be accessed on many devices and can be used by remote workers and designers who want to access the features at the convenience of their homes. With its user-friendly interface, even a tech novice can develop a stunning design effectively. Surely, it can offer more for the professionals in the industry.

One of Coohom’s innovative offerings is the virtual reality-based effect, which renders in seconds. This cutting-edge technology has rapidly changed the way designers manage tasks that traditionally take longer to finish. “Customers want better visualisation, a cheaper price, and faster delivery.” However, Victor Huang confirms that transforming the traditional procedures of mature industries is still quite a rough ride. Knowing this, he remains positive that the interior design market will soon adopt intelligent solutions and overtake time-consuming traditional practices. “In a market, there will always be a disruptor—someone who wants to change the industry.” The co-founder envisions a positive path for the company in supporting the digitalisation of the industry.

Coohom now caters to over 70% of China’s interior design market as well as the most prominent global names in the interior design and furniture market. The team is still very open to immersive expansion and long-term growth, creating an open ecosystem to help customers and designers communicate their ideas better with real-time results.
